Truth Hurts Q & A
1. What was your initial impression of Truth Hurts?
2. Did you find the name of the book fitting? Or where you left wondering why the author might have chosen this particular name?
3. How did the author use supporting characters to add to the overall mystery of what was happening in the story?
4. Were the characters and their experiences in Truth Hurts relatable as well as the underlying message?
5. Do you think Sylvie's character would have been more meaningful if she hadn't slept around quite so much? If so, why?
6. Do you think the author intended to imply that Sylvie slept around because she felt a void inside of herself that she could never quite seem to fill?
7. Do you think that Duncan Jamison felt more guilty that he didn't save Reagan Dunlap or that he was unaware of what was happening right under his nose in his own home?
8. Do you think that trauma can really affect a person in such a terrifying way as to make someone  forget such powerful memories as seeing someone murder your sister?
9. Did you guess the ending and know what was happening or was you surprised by the ending?
10. Why do you think the author didn’t delve more into Sylvie's trauma with losing her dad?  Would the book have been more effective if they had?

Author Answer: Writing a book is complicated. It's a constant ebb and flow of deciding which parts have to stay because they are paramount to the story and which parts to cut to keep the story to the point and interesting. In this case, I already felt like it was running too long, keeping the many pages about Sylvie's grief didn't seem worth the space in the end so I cut some of it.
